Sanctuary Faith Community Child Care Worker Job Description
Purpose: To provide dependable, safe, and nurturing care to children during our Dinner Church gatherings, which meet the final Sunday of the month, 5:30-7:30pm at Tree Pittsburgh (32 62nd St. in Lawrenceville).
Responsible for leading or assisting with activities planned for the evening, including reading stories, singing songs, playing games, and making crafts.
Responsible for age-appropriate care as per our Child Protection Policy. Interacting with children in an engaging and age-appropriate way, and contacting parents for needs such as bathroom trips and diaper changes.
Be friendly and courteous to all children, parents, volunteers, and other staff.
Arrive by 5:15pm to help prepare children’s area and to interact with children prior to their time separate from parents.
Prepare in advance for monthly Sunday gatherings by reviewing curriculum, becoming acquainted with planned activities, preparing needed materials (all will be provided by Sanctuary). Approximately 1-2 hours of preparation expected.
Stay until children are secured with a responsible adult named on the sign in sheet.
Clean up toys and activities before leaving.
Attend evaluation after first 90 days and annually thereafter.
Give two weeks notice on any planned changes to availability. Contact pastor any unplanned absence at least two hours in advance.
At least 18 years of age
Experience in caring for children ages 2-6
Available during our monthly Dinner Church gatherings the final Sunday of each month, 5:30-7:30pm.
Satisfactory completion of background check: Act 33/34 clearances, FBI fingerprinting, and mandatory reporter training (all will be reimbursed by Sanctuary)
Must adhere to Sanctuary Faith Community Child Protection Policy
$50/gathering for monthly Dinner Church
$15/hour for any additional Sanctuary events
Two weeks notice is expected in the event of employment termination by employer or by employee. Immediate termination will occur in cases of intentional verbal, physical, or emotional abuse or neglect of any child, parent, or church member. Termination may occur for failure to carry out job duties as described above or failure to comply with the Sanctuary Faith Community Child Protection Policy.
