Pub Talk: Spoken Word & Liberation

  • Full Pint Wild Side Pub 5310 Butler St. Pittsburgh, PA (map)

Join us as we explore the intersection of Spoken Word and Liberation with Emiola Jay Oriola. Oriola is a seven-time Spoken Word Champion for the City of Pittsburgh, a featured speaker at many of the region’s slam-poetry events, the Associate Director of INVESTING NOW--the highly acclaimed University of Pittsburgh mentoring and college preparatory program. Oriola describes himself as a "traveling poet and spoken word artist," and will share with us his story and his craft.

The evening will also include table conversation, an opportunity for participants to experience spoken word for themselves, and a Q&A with Oriola.

Sanctuary Faith Community is excited to host this special Pub Talk in partnership with Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

What is a "Pub Talk"?
Sanctuary's Pub Talks welcome a variety of speakers, artists, and musicians exploring the intersections of faith, culture, art, politics, and justice. We seek to draw on the best of public house history-- a place to share a drink, build community, and discuss pressing issues of the day.

**Pub Talks are FREE and open to the public. We provide light appetizers. Drinks and other food can be purchased at Full Pint. We are so grateful for Full Pint's hospitality, and encourage all Pub Talk attendees to make purchases and tip well.
